Named after the sturdy wagon used by early explorers in South Africa, the aluminium Ossewa is our answer to comfortable camping in the wild. This self-sufficient 4-sleeper camper offers everything an adventurous family could ever need, including good storage. It carries a 90-litre water tank, and its own battery to power lights, tyre compressor, fridge and various others. Solar power and a battery management system ensure that your battery is kept charged. If your travels should take you back to civilisation, the Ossewa is also wired to accept 220 V power from the local grid.
Sleeping quarters are comprised of two large double beds, one ‘upstairs’ and one ‘downstairs’ (both featuring a handy USB charger). The mattresses are made from dual-density foam for greater comfort.
Keeping clean isn’t a chore. The unit’s hot water geyser works on gas (you can carry two gas bottles) or 220 V, and runs out to a shower cubicle complete with shower tray. Naturally, this hot water is also available for washing up.
On the culinary side you’ll enjoy a fully-equipped kitchen for four. Essential features are a 90-litre National Luna fridge and a pull-out gas stove, with cutlery drawer and work surface. Other ingredients include four camp chairs, a camping table and braai gear. And don’t forget the wine bottle holder! Keeping your cool behind the stove is easy thanks to the 270° awning. Optional extras include rear work lights and of roof load bars for boards or bikes.
