ALU-PRODUCTS
Along with our campers and canopies Alu-Cab also builds a wide range of handy products that can be fitted to your vehicles or custom-made for your vehicles. As is the case with our core products, our add-on items are built from Aluminium. Once again for reasons of greater strength and durability while keeping the additional weight to a minimum.
CONSOLES
Alu-Cab roof consoles are custom built for mounting to the ceiling of a number of vehicles. For mounting points, we use the mirror and interior light so no new holes need to be drilled. The roof consoles are fitted with map reading stork lights. They include interchangeable lenses – such as red lenses - specially fitted on the drivers side to assist with night driving. Using a red light eliminates that blinding affect immediately after looking out of the light. Roof consoles also come fitted with a small, low LED light for when dim light is required. There is also an output for fitting two-way radios. Plus a small storage area for glasses and wallets. On certain vehicles such as the Toyota Land Cruiser, we also add map pockets above the sun visors.
Alu-Cab also manufactures a very convenient, double storage compartment, centre console. We mount it to the seats of the Land Cruiser bakkie but can also custom build it to fit for other vehicles. The main compartment is fitted with a very secure push-button lock.
Other useful items are door pockets - for cameras, books and maps - and dash board trays. These are mounted to the dash using an industrial velcro system designed for the boating industry. The practicality of it is you can remove the trays when not required. Also no drilling is involved in mounting these trays, avoiding any potential damage to dash boards.
Once fully equipped with all these items the interior of the vehicle begins to take on the look of a command centre inside. Giving you good storage areas with easy access to driving essentials when 4×4ing or bundubashing in the bush.
DRAW SYSTEMS
Included in the Alu-Cab product range is a very large variety of draw systems. These we keep in stock or custom build for the vehicle to meet specific requirements. For example, we can either build you a sliding draw with fridge to meet your needs or you can take one of our standard lines that have already been tried and tested. Also, the standard product tends to cost a little less.
Unique to Alu-Cab draw systems are the runners we use - built with sealed bearings. These can withstand the harshest of conditions and dust, which ordinarily can be problematic to bearings and runners. Again our products are built from Aluminium for weight saving advantages.
BOXES
Alu-Cab builds a number of Aluminium boxes in all different shapes and sizes. We build boxes to meet specific customers needs. The secret behind a good box is getting the seals right. Most boxes we build are mounted onto roof racks for extra storage. At high speeds these seals are subjected to rain and wind at speeds sometimes in excess of 120 km’s per hour. If the seals are not right, the box will allow both water and dust to enter - making the sole purpose of the box a total waste of both time and money. At Alu-Cab we strive to ensure that we get these seals 100 % correct. Also, wherever possible, we use good quality catches on our boxes to keep them securely closed.
